Dear family and friends,
This week was a great one! It was another week with a few
really funny experiences and some great spiritual ones. Early in the week we
went with one of our Ward Mission Leaders to make some visits to a few
less-active members. When we got to one of the doors they invited us in
immediately. We visited with the Hawk's for a while and got to know them a
little. Sister Hawk was so excited when she found out that Elder Edwards was from
London. She thought it was the coolest thing ever. We shared a quick spiritual
thought and asked if we could have a prayer before we left. She said sure and
asked Elder Edwards to say it. Right before he offered it she asked if he could
pray in his native language. We thought she was just joking around, but when he
bowed his head and began to pray in English she slapped her hand to her
forehead and let out a little, "Oh!" At the end she said she thought
they might have spoken a different language over there since he had an accent!
Hahaha! It was the funniest thing ever. We were trying so hard not to laugh too hard. We got out of there and were dying. I never would have thought that
someone would ask Elder Edwards from England to pray in his native language! It
was pretty great!
We found a new investigator as well this week. In fact it
was just last night. We were looking through the area book at our potential
investigators. The previous missionaries didn't take very good care of
the area book. We have about 50 potential investigators that we're trying to go through right now and clear out who is interested and who isn't. So far
we haven't had much success until last night! We knocked on the door of a lady
named Joanne. She opened the door and immediately recognized us as LDS
missionaries. We asked her if she'd ever met with missionaries before and she
told us she had about a decade before with her daughter and grand kids.
The daughter was baptized along with her kids, but Joanne never was. She's a
super strong Christian who knows the Bible really well. It was really quite
impressive. Usually when people think they know the Bible that means they know
a few verses and have read it a couple of times. She reads through the entire
thing every year! It is insane! Anyway, we got in there and she told us about
herself and then we told her about ourselves. We then turned in the Book of
Mormon to 3 Nephi 11 when Christ comes to the Americas. It was really good. She
asked a ton of questions and had a lot of insights. It was phenomenal! We
invited her to read from Moroni 10 before we came back and she accepted. We
plan on talking about the Restoration and then Moroni's promise. I'm excited
for that lesson to see what she says about it. She told us straight out that she
wasn't interested in getting baptized, but that she would love to meet
with us. We'll see about that though!
Sorry it's a bit of a short email. Our P-day today is kind
of crazy since it's transfer week. Oh! By the way! Elder Edwards and I will be
staying together in the area for 7 more weeks. Usually transfers are 6 weeks,
but because of the MTC stay being 3 weeks now rather than 2 they have to add on
an extra week somewhere. It'll be a great transfer and I'm excited to be
staying. I feel like we will be companions for 3 transfers and then I'll be
transferred to my final area. It'll be a great transfer! Have a wonderful week
everyone!
Love,
Elder Mullins
