Dear family and friends,
This week was phenomenal! A lot of really great things
happened and it was incredible to watch it all unfold. I didn't have any crazy
adventures, but it a good week! I got to the San Carlos Indian Reservation
twice this week which was pretty fun. Elder Jencks and I also taught some
really, really good lessons to some of our investigators. It was pretty awesome
The first day I went to the Rez was with Elder Meyers.
He's a pretty cool guy. He's from Oregon and is really into sports. He doesn't
have the build to go into it professionally, so he studied business management
before his mission and hopes to become the manager of a professional sports
team. He's been out for 7 months. We taught a lot of lessons. He said that it
was a total miracle of a day because usually they only have maybe one or two
lessons, but this time we had six or seven of them! It was really neat to see
so many people and teach them all. They have lots of different people in their
teaching pool. Old, youth, children, young adults, middle aged people; it's
pretty impressive! We talked to one youth that goes to school at Globe High. I
asked him if he knew our investigator Trevor and he totally did! I guess they hang out sometimes, so that was
sweet. The second day I went to the Rez was a few days later with Elder
Svedberg. He is such a funny guy! I
enjoyed my exchange with him. We didn't have quite as much success, but we
still taught a few lessons. Then we went to mutual. Mutual wasn't happening
before Elder Svedberg got there, but they finally have it going! We played
volleyball. They were shocked at the turnout.
They had about 17 kids that showed up.
It was pretty cool to see. I guess the vast majority of the ones that
showed are inactive, so that was pretty cool! We had a great time there. Then we went to
China Taste Buffet for dinner. It would have been fine, but we had had a
meeting earlier that day and decided to go to lunch after. That’s where we chose to eat lunch. So two meals in a row of Chinese buffet, not
so great for my stomach... It was some tough love, I can tell you that much!
We also went over to the Jonovich's house this weekend
and helped them out with putting in a floor. They were doing laminate flooring
which was nice. It was super easy, just kind of time consuming. We had a good
time over there. Their daughter Tori is a really cool girl! She is really
thinking hard about going on a mission. She's a couple of years away, so she's
got some time to decide, but yah! She is fellowshipping one of mine and Elder
Jencks investigators right now too. His
name is Trevor. He's a really cool guy!
Right after doing service over there we went and to teach Trevor. His
biggest hang up has been church attendance. He has been procrastinating it and
we felt like it was because he was scared of going into the unknown. We read
from the Book of Mormon with him in 1 Nephi 3-4 about Nephi being commanded to
go into Jerusalem to retrieve the brass plates and bring them back to his
father. We read the story of how Nephi went in not knowing what was going to
happen, but trusting in the Lord he went anyway, knowing that he would be
helped. We related it to going into unknown and new situations and how that is
the way we grow. We invited him to go to the Miami Ward to listen to Elder
Clark’s last talk as a full time missionary. He really wanted to go to that, so
we were hoping he would show up. Later
that day, Tori invited him to go with her and sit next to her there and even offered
to give him a ride to church. All of that over Snapchat too! Man!
Gotta love social media! Sunday rolled along and we went to church.
After church we talked to Elders Clark and Riding--and guess what? Trevor not only went to sacrament meeting,
but also the other two classes! It was so legit!
We are super pumped about that! We are excited. Hopefully we can get him to start coming to
the Globe Ward now! It was a great thing
that he went. That was probably the biggest success we had this week, so it was
fantastic!
One evening we went out looking for food for fluffy and
rascal (our pet tarantula and scorpion).
We were searching, and searching, and searching, and then I kicked a
clump of grass. Guess what was under the clump of grass? A lizard! So of course
I caught it, brought it in, got a selfie with it, and then threw it in with
Fluffy and Rascal hoping one of them would fight the other. We put them all in
there together and guess what? Nothing happened... So now we have a jar full of
what sounds like the beginning of a bad joke. A lizard, tarantula, and a
scorpion are all in a jar together. Now I just need a punch line...
I'll send a picture of the lizard. He's pretty awesome.
We named him Jack.
This week was really great and we had a lot of success!
I'm really enjoying my mission! I know that the church is true and the Book of
Mormon is also true. I know that God has a plan for each of us and that we can
be with our families forever. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is real. It redeems
us, it enables us, and it heals us. Because of the Atonement we can be forgiven
of our sins and become clean. I love you all! Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Mullins

If you can't tell, Jayden loves animals. It looks like they own a zoo down there. The last 3 posts include photos of animals. He should grow up to be a veterinarian.
