Dear family and friends,
This week was great and with it being conference weekend
it just was one of the best weeks ever! Not a ton really happened, but we had
fun. There also has been a little bit of
a mid-transfer for our district.
I'm still with Elder Edwards, but some things have swapped
around. Up until now we've been covering three wards; two of which meet in the
Signal Butte building and one meeting in the 72nd building 7 miles away. It
made Sunday's really interesting. We couldn't make it to a single ward council
as a result and the work was suffering quite a bit in the Hampton ward which
meets in the 72nd building. President got a few emails from the Hampton ward
bishop and ward mission leader telling him that Elder Edwards and I don't spend
a lot of time in the ward and never go to ward council or stay all the way
through church. The stake president went to one of the other zone conferences
earlier in the week as well and asked president why the areas were so funky.
Our roommates were covering two wards that met in the southern building and the
other elders in our district had the granddaddy of it all. A ward in the 72nd
building, one in the Southern building, and one in the Signal butte building.
President asked us to all stay after zone conference to figure some things out.
After some deliberation we came to the conclusion that a mid-transfer would be
necessary and that we would all cover the three wards that met in each
building. So Elder Edwards and I are getting all the wards in the Signal Butte
building. I'm excited to start working in the Parkwood ward. It seems like a
good ward. I already love the ward mission leader! He seems like a pretty
awesome guy! The bishop seems great too.
On Tuesday I went with Elder Mann to his area on
exchanges. We went and did service for an elderly woman and cleaned up her
yard. It was a mess! I've never seen so many weeds! We probably filled 10 30-gallon
garbage bags. The entire district was
there. While we were cleaning it up we found a tiny scorpion. We caught it and
named it Scott. Unfortunately, I've
messed with enough scorpions now that I don't have any compassion for them, so
we decided to see what would happen if we microwaved him. Let me tell you, it's
not pretty. He exploded and was vaporized. I got it on video, but it's not very
high quality. You can't really see it that well. The rest of the exchange was
good. We worked hard. I even went on splits with their ward mission leader who
I'd never met before to visit people he hadn't met before either. It was good
stuff!
We have these super annoying lesbians living downstairs. They are neighbors who HATE us. We're pretty
sure it's simply because we're Mormons. We try to be nice to them and say hi
whenever we see them. If we make any
amount of noise they bang on their ceiling and then send in a noise complaint.
It's gotten to the point where management had to talk with our housing
coordinator. When Elder McKenzie (the housing coordinator) came over to talk
with us to see what was really happening he quickly realized the neighbors were
just being ridiculous. Management was fine with that answer and figured that
was probably true. A few nights ago we
walked in the door and they pounded on the ceiling. We were confused and didn't
know what had happened. Our roommates were home but they said they hadn't been
doing anything but walking around. I took my shoes off and walked over to the
kitchen and they pounded their ceiling again. That's probably the most
ridiculous one we've ever gotten. It's so dumb! Elder Shirley, our roommate,
told us that he and Elder Renel went down to the office to use to computers in
the business center which was locked. They went to the desk and asked them to
unlock it. As they walked to the business center she asked them which apartment
they were in and they told her. She said that we get a lot of noise complaints
from our neighbors so they explained it to her. She asked what time this
happened and they told her around 9:30 usually. Apparently they can't complain about noise
until after 10 and they've been telling management we've been stomping around and
screaming at 2 and 3 in the morning! Gotta
love neighbors!
Conference was great! I loved Elder Uchtdorf's talk in
the priesthood session. If you weren't
there you should listen to it. It was hilarious! It also was really powerful
though. I enjoyed that one and Elder Nelsons talk in the priesthood session.
Elder Bednar’s talk was really good as well. He's definitely my favorite
apostle to listen to. It was so awesome
watching the priesthood session's choir too!
While we were watching I saw one of my best friends from the mission,
Elder Foulger, who went home in December.
He was singing in the choir! He had about a 20 second shot of just him
and the guy next to him! It was great! Not much else really happened this week.
I hope you all have a great one!
Love,
Elder Mullins

Jayden told us he needs a new suit. He's been lifting weights for exercise lately. He says when he lifts his arms he feels like the suit coat is going to rip out. If you look at his arms you can definitely tell he's getting buff.
