Dear family and friends,
This week was phenomenal! We did a lot of great things
and had a pretty good time! Monday was super crazy because we had to take Elder
Clark down to the valley to be dropped off. We were running around like crazy down
there and then got in traffic and didn't even get into Globe until 7:30. So if
I normally send you an email and didn't, I apologize... It was pretty crazy.
Tuesday was a pretty average day. We went around and
tried finding people to teach. We didn't have much success, but we did teach a
really good lesson! We went and taught Chelcee. Unfortunately, Patrick had
quite the toothache, but he still participated in the lesson. He just wasn't
feeling too great. We talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ with her. At the
end of the lesson she said that the biggest word that stood out to her was
'improve.' I didn't even realize we had said that, so she was definitely
learning by the Spirit and we were teaching by the Spirit. It was pretty
awesome! Chelcee is progressing really well and keeping her commitments. It's
always amazing to teach someone who actually progresses and does what you ask
them to. It's kind of surprising how few
people actually keep commitments.
Wednesday we had transfer meeting! Elder Jencks and I
stayed together, but we still had to go to the meeting because the entire
mission was invited. There were a lot of missionaries. It was crazy. We learned
some pretty cool things there. If you want to know what we learned about, study
what Rosh Hashana is and what it has to do with the Restoration. It only took
me about an hour to figure it all out, so I'm sure all of you can do it no
problem! We also learned that the entire mission is really fat. So, as a result
we are running a mission 5K in November!
Woooh!!! We did that last year and it was fun. We'll see if I do a
little bit better this year. Last year I finished in 25:25, so I'm hoping to
improve! We got back to Globe and made a few visits and then met our roommates
that evening. The Miami Elders are now in a trio. Elder Riding killed Elder Clark (I think that
means Elder Clark finished his mission and went home), so he got Elders West
and Flake. Elder West has been out for
21 months and Elder Flake just got out of the MTC. He's a visa waiter to
Brazil. He's a pretty cool guy.
Honestly, not a lot of exciting things happened this
week. We released all of our captives, so now there aren't any animals in our
apartment. I guess I did kill a black widow this week. I wanted to catch it and
fight it with a scorpion, but I decided against it. So I just squashed it. It
was living right outside our apartment, so I didn't want that thing crawling in
bed with me.
We taught Dawn a few times. She's really opening up to
us. When Elder Jencks told her that he will finish his mission in a bit over a
month she almost cried. She told us that in the past 10 years nobody has been
able to really influence her for good; not even her own family. I guess as we
have been meeting with her, her entire attitude has been changing. She used to
hate God for a lot of things that have happened to her, but recently she said
she's been praying at least ten times a day. That's almost as much as me! She's
so awesome! She talks about getting baptized occasionally. The only problem is
that she is always with Sister Sanders, her patient, and so she can't make it
to church. Dawn's a hospice nurse just to let you all know.
It was a great week and Elder Jencks and I had a good
time. We did a lot of good things! We taught a few lessons and spent a lot of
time finding. We did find a few new investigators for Globe 1st ward which
hasn't happened in at least 6 months, so that's exciting! Anyway, I love you
all! Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Mullins
