We Got Transfer News!

So, I'll get it out of the way now. I'm getting transferred. :( But! I'm going out to Globe!!!! Elder Jencks will be my companion. I'm so excited to be able to go out there! It's almost as far out as you can go in this mission.  The only place further away is San Carlos, the Indian reservation. The people there mostly work at the schools as teachers or they work in the mines. It's also about 10 degrees cooler there on average and it drops down to the low 70s at night during the summer. I've never been there, so I'm super excited to be up there! I'll most likely be spending the holidays there too, so that will be awesome. Maybe we'll see some snow if we're lucky!

This whole week has been awesome! Monday we didn't do a whole lot. We shopped a little, did a lot of emailing, and hung out. It was a pretty relaxed day! We definitely need one of those every once in a while. That night we went to the Vanwambeck’s to check up on them. They are doing well. Sister Vanwambeck has been in and out of the hospital the past little while and Brother Vanwambeck has been having a few health struggles himself. We shared an awesome message of the Atonement with them that they really enjoyed!

Tuesday was alright.   We did a few things in the afternoon that we had to take care of and then we went out and did some great work! We visited Brother Pearson who is a returning member. He also loves to go out with the missionaries, so we went with him that night to teach Carl. We taught Carl about the Plan of Salvation and it went really well. It was a super focused lesson and Carl understood it well. It was really great! We also taught Matt about the Word of Wisdom. He isn't going to be having any problems at all with that. Yay! In Apache Junction when you find someone that doesn't struggle with the Word of Wisdom, it's kind of a miracle, so that was great! Brother Pearson bore a really strong testimony of the Word of Wisdom that was super good for Matt to hear!

Wednesday. Oh Wednesday. That was an interesting day. Elder Sweeten had kind of an off day, so we took it pretty easy. We went and talked to our friend Lanny in the Mesa East stake for a little bit of advice.  It was helpful.  We went back to dinner with the Lamps family. They have a lot of little kids that run around everywhere! It's always a party over there! Brother Lamps' brother and mother were both visiting from Illinois. They both are super awesome! After that was mutual, which is always fun.  Then we went to visit the Springer's. Jimmy is suddenly taking a lot more interest in the things we have to teach him. It used to be just going over there to visit and keep in contact, but this time it was a lot different. We had a super in-depth hour long conversation about Christ's grace, and prayer, the Atonement, and repentance. It was kind of fun because his mom who is a Seventh Day Adventist was there too and she had quite a bit to contribute. It was a super awesome lesson! He found out that I'd more than likely be transferred, that was kind of a sad note to leave on, but we're going over there today or tomorrow to say bye to them.

Thursday our car was broken and we had to take it to the shop. We took it in at noon and they said it would be done in about three hours. So, we went back into our area and started just trying to get rides and walking everywhere. We went over to Brother Goodman's house to check up on him. He just lost his wife a few months ago and is really having a hard time with that. He gave us all sorts of marriage advice and told us how we needed to treat our wives. It was a really good visit even though marriage seems like it's a little ways away for me to be thinking about. I'll take the advice though! After that he gave us a ride to our investigator, Dan's house. Dan is a major conspiracy theorist as you've probably picked up from my previous emails. We talked about shadow government and J-Helm and aliens for a while and then shared a message on prayer which somehow got the subject back around to aliens. Oh Dan, how I'll miss that guy! Haha! It was fun to go over there and kind of see what's "actually" going on in the world! From there we walked to Brother Lorenz's house. It was 112 out and Brother Lorenz lives about two miles from Dan. Wow... that was fun. I'm so glad that we have a car! Haha! I'm also glad that I'm in a car next transfer too, because, wow, was it warm out there! I was worried that the soles of my shoes were going to fall off! That evening we had dinner and a lesson with Colton. He's on fire! He texted us the other day asking if he could be baptized on July 10th, so that's awesome!

Friday was an awesome day! We studied, did online proselyting, did an hour of additional study, weekly planned, then headed out to save the world one soul at a time! I honestly can't remember anything about Friday even though it was like three days ago. I just remember that we weekly planned so well that there's not a single bit of white in our area book! It's awesome! I'll send a picture of our schedule for the week!

Saturday we went to the Riffels' for another lesson. It was a really good one and we got to know them a lot better! We had a good time over there! After that we went to dinner at the Berry's. Brother Berry served his mission in Japan, so he made us authentic Japanese food. It's called Japanese pizza in English kind of, but it had some long Japanese name that I could hardly say. So, from what I could tell, it goes like this. Egg for crust, noodles, coleslaw-ish stuff with lots of other Japanese stuff in it, and a couple of beef strips. Then you cook it on a griddle like a pancake, put Japanese stuff that resembles mayo slightly, and kind of teriyaki sauce, but not really. And then on top of it you put seaweed and fish flakes. And the weird thing is, the fish flakes move when you put them on it. It's super weird! It makes it look like it's alive or something. Now, this all sounds really gross, but it was actually super good. I was very impressed with it.

Church yesterday was super good! Brother Mickelson came! He hasn't been to church in forever, but his home teachers have been working on him like mad. He only showed up for sacrament meeting, but that's alright. It was so good to see him there! Colton and Lynsie also showed up, so that was great! Not very many other people showed though, so that made me kind of sad, but oh well. They'll be there next week. Elder Sweeten had a super bad headache, so we came home, ate lunch, and he took a two hour nap while I studied. We went to dinner with the Lamps again and had some super good fajitas. Then we got transfer news and I came home and packed. Well, I guess our whole apartment packed because they're closing the apartment, so we're all leaving. Elder Sweeten will be training and he'll be moving a few apartments over.

Well, that's how my week has been. It's been awesome! I really did enjoy it. I'm sad that I'm leaving this area and especially that Elder Sweeten and I are going to be separated now, but that's alright. It'll be a great opportunity for me to learn and grow some more. I'm so excited to be out there. I don't know much about Elder Jencks, but he has been with my first companion Elder Parker for the past 6 weeks. Yep! I'm replacing my trainer out there. It's not supposed to reach over 100 this week up there, so that will be super nice to be spending the summer there. The Church is true!

Love,

Elder Mullins
Arizona Sunsets are awesome!
Our schedule for the week
Yep!  It's hot...a melted crayon...
Oops!
Elder Sweeten and I walked 2 miles in 112 degree heat.  I thought the soles of my shoes would melt off.
