Bull Whip Mayhem!

Hey Everybody!!!

This week has been one of the greatest weeks of my mission! It's FLOWN
By.  On Monday we went over to the Assistant’s house and Elder Foulger
taught us how to make bull whips! Elder Sweeten and I are basically
done with ours now.  We just need to make handles for them, so it's
pretty exciting stuff! We've been cracking Elder Sweeten’s the past
couple of days and have been showing it off to a few people in the
ward.  We took it over to Stan's yesterday.  He thought it was so
cool that he paid us to make him one.  We only charged him the cost of
supplies, so don't worry;  we don't have a mini business going on.   Haha! I think we'll make a total of maybe $1.50. When
we took it over there we both cracked it a few times and the Stan
wanted to try. We gave him a basic demo on how to do it, but he didn't
follow it too well!   Hahaha!  You’ve  got to imagine this guy. He's 65, has a
mustache, and he goes out there with this 10' whip.  He's swinging
it around his head as fast as he can and then he flicks it slightly.
All the whip did was wrap all the way around his body a few times and
tangled him up!  Hahaha! It was seriously the funniest thing ever! He
looked like he had the coordination of a 4 year old. We thought it was
pretty funny.  All three of us were in stitches. Hahaha! He was kind of
worried about us cracking it because the mayor of Apache Junction is
his next door neighbor, but no one was home, so he wasn't even worried
about it! All of his neighbors’ dogs were going crazy though, so I'm
sure the neighborhood really appreciated it.

We had a lesson with Alisha this Friday and taught her all
about the Word of Wisdom. We also talked to her about fasting and
priesthood blessings. She's a smoker, so she needs to quit. At the
beginning of our conversation with her, somehow, the topic of McDonald’s
came up.   I mentioned that I'm in love with the food there. She went off on this
twenty minute rant about how bad it is for you and how nobody should
ever eat it, and just basically called me Satan for eating it! (Not
really, but seriously...) She told us that she would quit smoking on
Monday.  At the end of the lesson she said the prayer and in it she
was like, "And please bless Mullins that he will stop eating
McDonalds!" It was pretty funny.  After the prayer I told her that
starting Monday if she never smoked another cigarette the rest of her
life, that I would never eat McDonald’s again another day of my life.
She took me up on that in a heartbeat!  So I guess it looks like
no more Mickey D's for me! Haha!

On Saturday the three Hodges got baptized! Jimmy has been
investigating the church for 15 years, which is insane to me! The
baptism was awesome! There were SO many people there. There were probably
more people at the baptism than usually show up to our sacrament
meeting.   Sister Hodges has 9 siblings and each sibling has
about 6 kids.  Then there were cousins, aunts, uncles,
grandparents, and other friends and relatives.  When we went into the relief
society room where the font is we totally filled the room up!
It was crazy!  To see Jimmy, Zane, and Talon get baptized was one of
the most amazing experiences I've had in my entire life. Alisha was
there and she thought it was pretty incredible too. President Jenkins
also came! He has been to every single one of my baptisms!   Not
many people can say that out here because he can't make it to all of
them.   The whole thing was incredible! Jimmy's
testimony at the end was awesome! That guy’s going to be a bishop in
about 5 years, I swear.  He has such a powerful testimony already.
It's miraculous that he's gained such a strong testimony in the past
month or two. I'm so proud of that family for choice to be baptized.

On Sunday I got to talk to my family! That was pretty fun! It was
crazy, we were talking and all of a sudden I got a text from Carl
saying,  "What do I need to do to be baptized and when can I get
baptized?" Boom!  My family thinks I'm an awesome missionary now!
Carl has been coming to church for about a month now and we
weren't sure whether he wanted to be baptized or not, but I guess he
does!   This week has been awesome! I hope you all have a
wonderful week!

Love

Elder Mullins
