Pre-mission Preparations

My oldest son, Jayden Mullins has chosen to serve a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He has been called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in Mesa, Arizona.  His full-time service will begin on August 27, 2014 and will end in August, 2016.  He is excited for this experience.  I believe it will be a great time of growth and change for him.  He is leaving the comfort zone of our home and neighborhood, and is sure to grow spiritually.

Jayden received his call to serve in April.  Since then we've been making physical preparations for his departure.  We've purchased all his clothing, books, and other items one needs to get along in life.  I will go through his list again today to see if we've missed anything, which I'm sure we will find.

Jayden has been preparing spiritually for his departure since April.  He is studying "Preach My Gospel" an amazing missionary resource, "The Book of Mormon", another testament of Jesus Christ, and other books that will help him teach others.  He is attending the temple regularly.  We have been very impressed with his commitment to prepare in these ways.

Although it will be painful for us and for him to leave our home for such a long period we know that it will be a joyous time as we will exchange weekly e-mails.  This blog will be made up of those e-mails from him.  I hope friends and family will follow this blog to see that growth and to read about his experiences in Mesa.  God bless you, son, as you begin this new journey.
